March 20, 2014
Throughout the past few months, 67 Bristow employees in New Iberia, Louisiana, participated in activities to benefit the Acadiana affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Through donations and fundraisers, Bristow employees were able to raise $2,380.
This year’s race saw overwhelming support from the community as more than 1,800 residents participated in the race and raised $94,079. The race took participants through downtown Lafayette as supporters lined the streets, cheering everyone on.
In addition to the race, the event included a survivor breakfast, a free concert, and a survivor ceremony to highlight those who have successfully overcome their long battles with the disease.
“I participated in the Susan G Komen race for several reasons: one of the main ones is I have family members that have died of cancer and many family friends still battle the disease daily. Therefore, I walked in support of the survivors and deceased. Supporting such a great cause gives me great pleasure,” says Bristow’s Lisa George.
Joleigh Hulin, who has participated in the event for several years now, says it’s an honor to participate. “While celebrating the courageous survivors of breast cancer and supporting those presently battling this disease, we are also giving back to the community, and raising awareness of such a critical issue that touches so many lives every single day.”
