Santa Spreads Christmas Cheer Across Australia in Airnorth Turboprop

Australia’s Northern Territory kids must have been very, very good this year, as Santa visited Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, before heading to Arnhem Land and dropping into Maningrida, Elcho Island and Groote Eylandt to see everyone.

Santa appreciates that local conditions are a little different to those at the North Pole, so he swapped his reindeers and sleigh for an Airnorth turboprop so he could cover large distances with all the presents. Santa always gets an excess baggage waiver.

Airnorth’s Christmas tradition continued this year, with eager kids congregating at their local airports December 21 and 22, 2016, squinting at the sky and waiting patiently. The moment Santa’s plane appears, the joy on their faces is priceless. Santa disembarks the plane with his entourage of elves and a bulging sack of gifts over his shoulder. The kids watch mesmerised as he sways his way into the terminal. Gifts are handed out and season’s greetings are proclaimed as Santa ushers in the festive season for the Top End community.

Airnorth’s Santa Run is a tradition that started in 2012 and supported by the local communities of the Northern Territory. Members of Airnorth’s team play Santa and the elves with the view to extend the organization’s support to the local communities. Bristow acquired a controlling interest in Airnorth, the largest regional airline operating across Northern Australia, in 2015.
