Houston Employees Celebrate Bristow’s Birthday with Big Brothers Big Sisters
On June 20, Houston employees partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) to celebrate Bristow's 60th birthday. The celebration was part of Bristow's sponsorship as the official BBBS Birthday Sponsor of 2015. The volunteers accompanied 15 unmatched "Littles" (children who are on a waiting list for a big brother or big sister through the program) for a day of fun at the Houston Aquarium. Each of the Littles had a recent birthday and the celebration was in honor of the occasion.
The volunteers rode a train, ferris wheel and carousel with the Littles, and enjoyed lunch with them before taking a guided tour of the exhibit, taking photos with an African serval, and watching a tiger enjoy his lunch.
"I was paired with a first grader and an eighth grader," said Bristow executive administrative assistant Michelle Parsons, who volunteered at the event. "They totally lit up during the experience, especially the cake and tiger exhibit. They had never seen a tiger up close and they asked lots of questions. They were so engaged!"
"As Bristow celebrates their 60th birthday and Big Brothers Big Sisters Houston celebrates our 65th birthday, we are so grateful to partner together to expand the celebrations to benefit our Littles and children on our waiting list," said BBBS President Pierce Bush. "Thank you, Bristow, for lifting the spirits and lighting the candle for so many deserving children in our community."
One of the Littles' mother said, "Thank you so much for giving my baby this special outing! He has been talking about it for two weeks and he got up early so he would be ready to go."
