Bristow Provides Scholarships While Getting a Fresh Perspective from Nigerian Students
Bristow partnered with the National Travel and Essay Competition this year to discover hidden talents and encourage young Nigerians to pursue a career in aviation. Twenty winners were selected in the competition, ten secondary students and ten tertiary students.
Secondary students submitted essays for the topic: “Helicopters: How Important to Our Daily Life and Economy?” Tertiary students submitted essays for the topic: “Safety Versus Profit in Airline Operations: Which Comes First?”
Students who submitted the highest ranking essays were invited to orally defend their essays.
The secondary winners were:
- First place: Karimat Sowemimo
- Second place: Tolulope Ogunkoya
- Third place: Divine Nwachi
The tertiary winners were:
- First place: Tolulope Coker
- Second place: Oluwabunmi Ayandele
- Third place: Happiness Udotong all of the University of Lagos thereby making history
The winners received cash prizes to help fund their education.
Program Coordinator Ewos Iroro thanked Bristow on behalf of the Editorial Board and Management of Travel & Business News, saying that Bristow’s support helps encourage “young Nigerians to follow a career in the aviation industry in an effort to ameliorate the problem of aging workforce and skilled manpower shortage currently facing the industry.”
