Bristow Debuts at OTC
Bristow made its first appearance at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in early May, welcoming guests from around the world and offering a glimpse of some of the latest technological advances in offshore oil and gas transportation.
New fleet addition
Visitors to Bristow’s booth had the opportunity to board and explore the latest Sikorsky helicopter, the S-76D™. Bristow recently took delivery of the first fully configured S-76D for offshore oil operations, with a maximum gross weight of 11,875 pounds and capable of carrying as many as 12 passengers.
A Bristow training captain was on hand to share the experiences of an offshore pilot, and a Sikorsky technical expert was available to answer any questions about the features and capabilities of the S-76D. Bristow currently operates more than 100 Sikorsky helicopters.
A special event took place on the last day of OTC, when students from Houston’s Sharpstown High School visited the Bristow booth and toured the helicopter. The students are in a math and science program that Bristow supports as part of its corporate social responsibility program, Bristow Uplift. Bristow capped off the visit with a $5,000 donation to the school.
Revolutionary offshore base
Also on display at the Bristow booth was the SSP HUB, one of a line of proprietary floating platform designs developed by SSP Offshore. As oil and gas exploration moves farther offshore, the SSP HUB enables efficient high-volume personnel transport capabilities in a protected environment that offers both “flotel” and emergency accommodations.
See you next year
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Bristow booth. We had a strong response for our first OTC appearance and enjoyed meeting each of you.
If you missed OTC this year, put it on your calendar for 2015 and please plan to visit us. We’ll put Bristow’s booth information in a future issue of Horizons and look forward to seeing you there.
The OTC has been held annually in Houston since 1969. Attendance at this year's conference totaled 108,300, the highest in show history and up 3.3 percent from last year. The sold-out exhibition was the largest in show history, with 2,568 companies representing 43 countries and including 163 new exhibitors. International companies made up 44 percent of the exhibitors.
